Artifacts
Seminole Dolls (T): Seminole are a part of Seminole culture. They show traditional dress and hair of Seminole men and women. These were made for children as toys (and later turned into a tourist industry). I think it would be fun for students to compare these dolls to the toys they play with now.
Artifakes
Bottle of Fountain of Youth (T): The bottle of Fountain of Youth water can be used to engage the students on the significance of the settlement of St. Augustine.
Printed map of Florida 1539 (T): The map of Florida 1539 provides a visual of how different Florida was to how it is today.
Fort De Soto National Park Postcard (T): The postcard could be used as a hook to introduce students to Hernando De Soto.
King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella 3D-printed coin (T): To be used to teach students that the Spanish explorers were sent by their king and queen to claim land for Spain.
“Gold" Coin (T):This is a 3D printed gold coin. It is supposed to symbolize what the European Explorers were searching for in Florida/The New World. It could be interesting to pass around some “gold” or use it as an object for a scavenger hunt.
